Give Generously
“thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.” Deuteronomy 15:14 KJV
When we think about generosity, the first thought that comes to mind is generally giving to a charity, providing food at a shelter, or giving clothes to the homeless. While these presentations of generosity are nice, there is another type that the Lord is calling to our attention. Think about it: Nothing much really happens after you give someone who is in need a coat, some hot food, or cash for the night. They will end up needing it again; in fact, they would probably be worse off than before.
The generosity God is calling us to operate in is in sharing the good news of His love. When we can share this with others along with the donated coat and the food we see their lives transform from inside out. Out of your blessings, the Lord calls you to bless others more, without considering or worrying that you might run out of time, energy, or resources, but believing that the more we give of Jesus, the more He will restock us to continue to give. The giving of Jesus also happens to look like doing a resume workshop with the person, helping them learn to find a place to make the food, all along lifting it up in prayer, sharing with them the word of God, and believing that those efforts are being blessed.
Father God, thank You for generously providing for me. I believe you have blessed me abundantly with skills, resources, and opportunities to bless others. Guide me and help me trust that when I give You to them, the efforts will be multiplied one hundredth Bless me even more so that I may continue to be a window of blessings to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
