Be About Your Father’s Business

"And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"Luke 2:49 KJV

When Jesus was about 12 years old, He went to Jerusalem with His parents, as it was the custom for them to go. This time around, Jesus stayed behind. His parents went crazy looking for Him, and finally, after three days, they found Him. He was preaching and teaching at the temple! Now, He wasn’t there buying the latest sandals, getting a haircut, or discussing what most people discussed those days. He was there on Kingdom business.

We often come across moments where subtle distractions take our focus off the mark. It may not seem like a huge distraction, but in reality, it is. We often get distracted by the news, the latest trending style, or what the person next door did to their front lawn that we slightly forget our bigger goal. For we are called to be the light of this world, to edify and exhort others, and to show the love of Jesus. If we get distracted, then we will not be able to excel and be on mark. Don’t let distractions get a hold of you today.

Do you think a cardiologist gets distracted in medical school? Probably not! Why? Because people's lives are at stake. We are those cardiologists, set apart to bring life to those broken hearts. So let’s keep our eye on the mark and prepare ourselves for the blessings to come!

Father God, thank You for helping me stay focused on You. Even when there are other things competing for my attention, give me the grace to always choose You, so that I may fulfill my duty as Your chosen vessel. In Jesus’ Name Amen
